Eggs

We Just Don’t Like the Eggs from Grocery Stores Anymore...”

That's what our customers are saying. If you never tasted real fresh eggs you won’t believe what you were missing.
Freshness and Feed make all the difference:
Eggs in the grocery store aren’t “FRESH”. They are sold as fresh because they are not treated with any preservation method, but they are days to weeks old. Our chickens roam outside scratching for worms, bugs, seeds,  grass, clover,  herbs,  and whatever they can find to supplement what we feed: chicken grains and lettuce leaves. This makes very tasty eggs rich in nutrients with a dark yellow yolk. Our eggs are not certified organic. But they are raised in the most sustainable and humane way getting only natural foods. And most importantly to us: Our chickens are happy and raised ethically.
We have only few roosters, therefore most of our eggs are not fertilized. This means, don't try to hatch a chick from our eggs. There's a high chance you will fail. Please check out our FAQ page were we shed light on many of the myths about chickens. See what our customers are saying about our eggs: Click here

How can you tell whether an egg is fresh?
Break and egg into a pan. A fresh egg has a small round yolk and a small raised white. Check for yourself. Our eggs are often only hours old when we sell them.

Did you know that eggs from hens raised on pasture compared to factory-farmed hens contain more of the good stuff and less of the bad stuff?

  • 1/3 less cholesterol
  • 1/4 less saturated fat
  • 2/3 more vitamin A
  • 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids
  • 3 times more natural tocopherols (vitamin E)
  • 7 times more beta carotene

How long can eggs store?
In nature, a female bird (hen, partridge, pheasant etc.) lays one egg per day into its nest and leaves the eggs at air temperature until the nest is full. This may take more than a week to complete. Only then does the bird start incubating the eggs. The eggs are designed to stay easily fresh for 14 days in any temperature because the egg shell is coated with a defensive protein barrier inhibiting the penetration of bacteria. Eggs you buy in the grocery store are all washed with detergent and the protein coat removed. They must be stored in the fridge to preserve their freshness.

HOW TO GET OUR EGGS:

Our eggs are for sale daily fresh at the cooler during daylight hours.

THEFT is a reality: We are selling eggs in the honor system. You take the eggs and put cash ( in Canadian Dollars!) into the money box. Some people don't have this decency. We usually find out who they are and that's not a happy event for them.   This has been going on for over 20 years. PLEASE - pay the correct amount. There is no honor in cheating someone.
